 (Photo credit: Oregon Wild) ACT NOW DEADLINE: MONDAY, MARCH 23RD 9:00 PM (PT) Even as the twin climate and biodiversity crises rage, Trump has told the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to return to the days of clearcutting public forests, sacrificing endangered species and their habitats, and destroying community water sources. Why? To maximize timber production at the expense of all other forest values. In other words, profit for the greedy few in the shortest amount of time. The revised plan will return to a 1960s-style logging across 2 million acres in our state; more than a billion board feet per year; four times the average annual harvest of the past 25 years! BLM does not plan to hold public meetings during this comment period despite the massive impacts the proposed plan revision would have on western Oregon public forests, making it all the more important to submit a written comment. Here’s what we do right now… Submit MAXIMUM comments into the public record, sign the petition and write our Delegation in Washington, D.C. But we don’t have much time.
